Each year during the first weekend (starting with Friday) of September the wide beach of the island of Rømø just off the West coast of Jutland to the south sets the scene for a terrific kite flying festival. Thousand of Danish and international kite fliers meet to fly, show their kites, and see what new stuff other kite fliers have come up with.
This year the event will take place the 5.-7. of September.

The special dishes of South Jutland
South Jutland sausages have a reputation that goes way back. Many varieties are on sale at local supermarkets, but it's more fun to buy a really good Danish salami where it's made - and you can sample the goods, too!
A really sweet souvenir to take home - or to eat while you're here - is the gingerbread made in Christiansfeld, from a traditional recipe that dates back a good century.
Right out west, the sheep and lambs graze on the dykes along the coastline. The salty grass makes lamb from the wetlands a tasty delicacy that you can buy at a number of farm shops.
